According to the electoral legislation in the Republic of North Macedonia, the pre-election campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country, which will take place, officially begins today along with the second round of the presidential elections on May 8, BTA reported.
Yesterday, representatives of 10 out of 17 parties and coalitions that will participate in the elections signed a Code for conducting fair and democratic elections, and the representatives of two political parties refused to sign it. The reasons, according to the statements of Stevco Jakimovski of GROM and the chairman of the Democrats party Jorgo Ognenovski, is in the way of financing the campaigns of the political parties, which favors the largest parties, as well as the mixing of the campaigns, in which the chairmen of parties who nominated presidential candidates , are participating in the presidential campaign, which began on April 4.
On April 12, the State Election Commission determined the order of the candidate lists in the ballot for the elections for a new parliament in the country. According to its previous decision, the political parties and coalitions that nominated presidential candidates shall retain in the ballot for the parliamentary elections the number under which their candidates are entered in the ballot for the presidential elections. Thus, the first will be the "Coalition for a European Future" led by the SDSM, the second is the "Your Macedonia" coalition. led by VMRO-DPMNE, number three coalition "Courageous for Macedonia" headed by GROM, fourth is the coalition "European Front" led by the largest Albanian party DSI, fifth - Left, sixth is the coalition of Albanian political parties "Deserves", seventh in a row is Movement ZNAM. At number eight on the ballot is the coalition United Macedonia, ninth - New Alternative of the mayor of Skopje Danela Arsovska, tenth is the Avaya party, eleventh are from the European Civil Movement, twelfth - "Third Macedonian Era", thirteenth - "Your Party", fourteenth - "Rodina Macedonia", fifteenth party "Desna", whose chairman Lyupco Palevski, who is suspected of a double murder in the country, was replaced before the elections, at number 16 on the list is the Democrats party and last is the Labor Party.
According to another decision of the State Election Commission, due to the overlapping of the pre-election campaigns for the presidential and parliamentary elections, on the day of reflection on the presidential elections, the campaign for the parliamentary elections will not be interrupted.
For parliamentary elections, North Macedonia is divided into six constituencies and 20 deputies enter the parliament from each of them, and according to the so-called D’Ont model, it is calculated which party will get how many seats.
