Beijing Jumps Against Voted US Aid to Taiwan

We urge the US not to take concrete action, State Council Office for Taiwan Affairs spokesman Zhu Fenliang said

Washington must demonstrate that it does not support separatist forces in Taiwan and stop supplying arms to the island.

This was stated at a briefing by Zhu Fenliang, a representative of the State Council Office of the People's Republic of China on Taiwan Affairs, commenting on the approval by the Senate of the US Congress of a bill for military aid to Taiwan, TASS reported.

„We call on the United States to take concrete action to fulfill its commitment not to support Taiwan independence and to stop arming the island in any way,” Zhu Fenliang said.

She said the bill seriously violates the "one China" principle, the three joint communiques between China and the United States, and sends the wrong signal to Taiwan independence separatist forces. “We are strongly opposed,” said Zhu Fenliang.
