Myanmar's junta has announced it is suspending the issuance of overseas work permits to men, weeks after announcing that will impose military service of at least two years, prompting thousands of men to try to leave the country, reported AFP.

The Ministry of Labor is "temporarily suspending" accepting applications from men wishing to work outside Myanmar's borders, the department said in a statement released last night.
