A pro-Palestinian demonstration briefly interrupted the graduation ceremony at the University of Michigan, Reuters reported, cited by BTA. The agency adds that, meanwhile, at the University of Virginia, students had clashes with the police.

Reuters indicates that turmoil continues at US universities around graduation ceremonies in connection with the conflict between Israel and the radical Palestinian group "Hamas".

Students call on US President Joe Biden to intervene and stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, the agency notes.

During the graduation ceremony of the University of Michigan at the stadium "Michigan" (Michigan Stadium) in Ann Arbor, students walked down the aisle between the rows of chairs in front of the field stage, holding Palestinian flags. University security escorted the protesters to one of the stadium's entrances.

"Peaceful protests like this have been held during graduation ceremonies at our university for decades,", university spokeswoman Colleen Maistoni told Reuters.

"The university supports freedom of speech and expression and management is pleased that today's graduation was a proud moment," she added.
