Teams involved in the search and rescue operation have reached the wreckage of the helicopter of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, which crashed yesterday in a difficult-to-reach area in northwestern Iran, Iranian state television reported, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

There is currently no information on the condition of the passengers in the helicopter.

Iran's president, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and other senior Iranian officials, was on board the helicopter, which Iranian state television reported made a “hard landing” in northwestern Iran. The search and rescue operation is hampered by the difficult terrain in the area and unfavorable weather conditions.

Earlier, the Anatolian Agency reported that a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle “Akanc“ had identified a source of heat early this morning that was believed to be coming from the helicopter crash site. So far, there is no official information on whether the remains have been found at the specified location. After the crash of Raisi's helicopter, the Turkish Ministry of Defense sent an unmanned aircraft “Acanc“ and helicopter “Cougar“ with the possibility of night vision to participate in the rescue operation.
