The administration of the US president Joe Biden has made it clear to Israel that the US does not believe that a "limited war” in Lebanon or a "small regional war” are realistic options, as it would be difficult to prevent their expansion, reports the "Jerusalem Post", quoted by BTA.

Washington has warned of a scenario in which Lebanon will be flooded with terrorists from pro-Iranian militias coming from Syria, Iraq and even Yemen.

The Biden administration has advised Israel in recent weeks against the possibility of a "limited war" in Lebanon and warned that such a move could prompt Iran to intervene – said two senior US officials and an Israeli official briefed on the talks.

"Jerusalem Post" recalls that on Wednesday State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the US remains "deeply concerned about the risk of escalation along the border between Israel and Lebanon".

"We are engaged in intensive diplomatic talks and intensive diplomatic negotiations to try to prevent this conflict from escalating out of control,”, he said. Miller added: "Israel has been telling us in private conversations for a long time – and they said that and publicly – that their preferred solution to this conflict is diplomatic.“
