The British maritime security company "Ambri" announced today that a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda was hit by a missile 83 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni city of Aden and a fire broke out on board, which was extinguished, Reuters reported, citing BTA.

Earlier, the British Maritime Merchant Operations Organization (UKMTO) said it had received information from a ship captain about an incident about 80 nautical miles southeast of Aden.

Yemen's Houthi rebels, who control the most populous parts of Yemen and are allies of Iran, have been attacking ships off Yemen's coast for months in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, according to Reuters.

"Ambri" reported that a second missile was fired, which failed to hit the ship, and during the incident it was fired upon by nearby small boats.

There is no information about casualties in the incident.
