The European Parliament presented the first forecast data for the distribution of mandates in the new composition of the institution after the elections for MEPs, BTA reported.
The data is based on preliminary results from 11 countries and preliminary attitudes in the remaining 16 EU countries. They show that the group of the European People's Party will once again be the first political force in the EP with 181 MEPs. Second is the group of Socialists and Democrats (135), in third place is "Renew Europe" (82), followed by the European Conservatives and Reformers (71), "Identity and Democracy" (62), the Greens (53) and the Left (34).
A total of 51 MEPs are defined as "independent" and 51 as "other", as their parties are not yet represented in the European political families.
For comparison to the last EP elections in 2019, the EPP received 182 mandates, the CD - 154, "Renew Europe" - 108, the Greens - 74, ID - 73, EKR - 62, the Left - 41, and 57 were independent. The EP consisted so far of 751 MEPs, and in the new mandate they will be 720 after redistribution of seats.
