Russia attacks Kiev, repulses an attack on Sevastopol

Ukrainian forces killed a Russian civilian near Belgorod

Russia launched an air attack against Kiev last night, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, referring to a Telegram message from the Ukrainian army.

Anti-aircraft systems are working to repel the attack, says the military administration in the Ukrainian capital.

Eyewitnesses told Reuters that several explosions were heard in Kyiv and the surrounding area.

An air alert has been declared throughout Ukraine shortly after 03:00 local (and Bulgarian) time.

At the same time, the governor of Russia's Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced that one civilian was killed and three were wounded during Ukrainian shelling of the city of Shebekino, Reuters reported.

Shebekino is a city of 40,000 inhabitants located near the border with Ukraine, less than 100 km from Kharkiv, the second largest Ukrainian city.

According to Gladkov, the Ukrainian rockets damaged six houses and 11 blocks. Reuters could not immediately confirm this information.

Both sides in the conflict say they are not carrying out attacks on civilians.

Meanwhile over Sevastopol, the Russian air defense repulsed a missile attack, all air targets were destroyed high in the sky, most of them above the water area, regional governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced on the Telegram channel.

Razvozhaev noted that no undetonated sub-munitions have been found at the moment. Rescue services, he said, continue to work.

„I remind everyone: you should not approach submunitions and fragments, and even more so, you should not take them!
