President Emmanuel Macron announced that Louis Arnaud, who is one of four French citizens held behind bars in Iran since 2022. , and who was sentenced to five years in prison in November last year, has been released, BTA reported.

"Louis Arnaud is free. He will be in France tomorrow (today - note ed.) after a long stay in an Iranian prison," Macron said on the "Ex" social network.

The French leader expressed gratitude in particular to Oman for the Middle Eastern sultanate's role in Arnaud's release, Reuters points out.
