NATO prepares to implement more strict measures to counter Russian espionage activities. Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, shared this information with Reuters, emphasizing the commitment of the Alliance to protect its members from a series of hostile actions from Moscow, reports News.bg.
The decision comes in direct response to a troubling pattern of sabotage, cyberattacks and other malicious activities attributed to Moscow.
Stoltenberg pointed out: “We witnessed sabotage, arson, cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns”, highlighting the multifaceted threat posed by these actions.
At a meeting in Brussels, NATO defense ministers are set to address Russia's ongoing hostile campaign.
The agenda includes discussion of how the Alliance can strengthen its defenses, focusing in particular on critical maritime and cyber infrastructure. There is also consensus on imposing tighter restrictions on Russian intelligence on NATO territories.
This initiative reflects NATO's proactive stance in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety and integrity of its member countries. By tightening the noose against Russian spies and strengthening safeguards, NATO aims to deter further hostile actions and maintain stability within the Alliance.
