At least two people died and another 10 people were injured in a strong thunderstorm with heavy rain, caused by a cold atmospheric front, which broke out today in Moscow, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

The Russian Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Consequences of Natural Disasters has warned that heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Moscow until 10:00 p.m. today, with the possibility of tornadoes forming in the afternoon.

Forecasters reported that 22 mm of rain fell in just one hour in the Russian capital, which is a third of the monthly norm. An orange 10 danger level was declared in Moscow due to bad weather, with wind gusts reaching 25 meters per second.

The metropolitan authorities called on residents to refrain from staying outdoors and for all drivers to be careful behind the wheel. Because of the bad weather in the Russian capital, parks and festival grounds are closed, and the city's emergency services are working in an intensified mode, quickly removing fallen trees and dismantling wind-damaged buildings.

Moscow airports "Sheremetyevo", "Vnukovo", "Domodedovo" and "Zhukovsky" work normally despite heavy rain and bad weather. No flight delays or cancellations have been reported.
