The Pentagon said , that Ukraine decides for itself which targets to hit, after the Kremlin earlier directly accused the US of an attack on Crimea, carried out according to Moscow with Washington-supplied ATAKMS missiles. In the attack, at least four people were killed and 151 people were injured, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

"Ukraine marks its own targets and conducts its own military operations," said a spokesman for the US Department of Defense.

A White House National Security Council official said any loss of civilian life is a tragedy.

"This certainly also applies to the thousands of innocent Ukrainians killed by Russian forces since the beginning of Russian military aggression," the official added.

According to Russian authorities, at least two children were killed in the attack on Sevastopol. Video footage shows people fleeing from a beach in the vicinity of the city, and some of the injured are carried out on deckchairs.

Russia said the weaponry used in the attack was supplied by the United States, and targeting and data on the target were provided by American military specialists.

Moscow summoned US Ambassador Lynne Tracy to the State Department, where Washington was accused of "waging a hybrid war against Russia and effectively becoming a party to the conflict". Tracy was told the attack "would not go unpunished" and "definitely retaliatory measures will follow".
