A national protest of migrants took place in the Italian city of Latina – workers, for the most part working illegally, BNR reported.
It was organized by the largest union "Italian General Confederation of Labor" (CGIL). Representatives of the opposition were also present.
The demonstration was held under the slogan "Stop a system of doing business that exploits and kills”.
It is about a system called caporalato, which has existed since ancient times - to hire illegally low-paid labor, without insurance, care and rights for these people.
The protest in Latina was sparked after a worker from India was injured at work and his employer did not call an ambulance, but left him outside his home. The man subsequently died.
More than 40 organizations not only of migrants participated in Latina - workers, most of them of Indian origin, working on the black and low-paid even up to two euros per hour.
In his speech, the president of the trade union "General Confederation of Labor" Maurizio Landini said:
"This economic activity of production that uses and kills must be stopped. It should be banned. It is unacceptable to have three million people forced to work illegally and without a residence document. We need to raise our heads and ask for it from those who bear public and political responsibility in this country.
The rally was attended by the leader of "Five Stars" Giuseppe Conte and other representatives of the opposition.
