India's relations with Russia enable it to insist to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war with Ukraine, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA writes.

Jean-Pierre made the comments after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Putin during a visit to Russia that the death of innocent children was painful and horrific - a day after a deadly attack on a children's hospital in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev.

The death of innocent children in war, conflict or terrorist attack is very painful, Modi told Putin and noted that the solution to the war in Ukraine and the establishment of peace cannot be achieved on the battlefield, but through negotiations.

Ukraine announced yesterday that the main children's hospital in Kyiv was struck by a Russian missile strike, Reuters recalls. Russia denies that it attacked the children's hospital in the Ukrainian capital.
