New York federal judge voids Donald Trump's former lawyer's personal bankruptcy

New York federal judge yesterday voids former lawyer's personal bankruptcy of Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, which allows the plaintiffs in the cases against him for defamation and sexual harassment to receive compensation, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane also barred Giuliani from filing for bankruptcy again for a year.

The 80-year-old former New York City mayor filed for bankruptcy in December after a Washington court ordered him to pay $148 million to two Georgia election officials he accused of rigging the presidential election. in 2020, won by Democrat Joe Biden.

The bankruptcy proceedings prevented the two employees - Ruby Freeman and her daughter Vandrea "Shay" Moss to receive compensation.

Judge Lane's decision allows the plaintiffs in the cases against Giuliani to renew their claims against him, but also gives the former mayor the opportunity to appeal the verdict in the defamation case and the $148 million in damages.

Giuliani's lawyer, Heath Burger, confirmed yesterday after the New York court's decision that his client will appeal.
