A French soldier has been stabbed outside a Paris train station and the attacker has been arrested, officials announced, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
Paris is under increased security 11 days before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2024, the agency recalls.
A French military official said the soldier was hospitalized, but not in a life-threatening condition, and that the cause of the attack was being investigated.
France is on the highest alert. The soldier was acting as part of Operation Sentinel. - 3,000 people who patrol around sites such as railway stations, places of worship, schools and theatres.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal put an additional 3,000 soldiers on standby for the "Sentinel".
The attack took place at the Paris Gare du Nord. The attacker's motive was not immediately clear.
