Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that Poland agreed to speed up the delivery of F-16 fighter jets after his talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Today we have a positive decision by the Polish government on a specific issue, which will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 fighter jets sooner,” Zelensky announced on the social network X, without providing further details.
Kiev is desperately awaiting delivery of the first F-16s, which it hopes will boost its air defense capabilities and help repel regular long-range Russian airstrikes.
Last week US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the first planes from Denmark and the Netherlands were already on their way to Ukraine.
