Today there is a meeting of the leadership of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) under the leadership of its chairman Recep Erdogan Tayyip Erdogan, writes BTA.
Newspaper “Sabah”, which is considered an unofficial organ of the AKP, in a publication under the title “The wind of change is blowing in the AKP” indicates that changes of some persons in the composition of the central council are expected. These changes will affect some of Erdogan's vice presidents, Sabah writes.
The event is the next in a series of meetings that Erdogan has taken with the leadership and assets of the AKP in search of responsibility for the defeat that his party suffered in the local elections in March.
At first, the chairmen of the regional councils in Rize and Batman, which were considered strongholds of the AKP, resigned (or were forced to) but lost a significant electorate.
This was followed by the resignation of the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, and the removal of the Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Climate, Mehmet Yozhaseki.
This time at the meeting, in addition to the expected replacements of Erdogan's deputies, the central leadership will also discuss issues related to the preparation for the upcoming AKP regular congress in September, Sabah said.
