Security Service of Ukraine announced today that it had prevented Russian plans to arson shopping centers and other objects in Poland, the three Baltic countries, as well as in Ukraine, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Ukraine's Security Service reported that a group of 19 people were detained in 37 police operations in four Ukrainian regions, seizing fake passports and driver's licenses.

The planned attacks, including on gas stations, pharmacies and markets, were to be carried out by Ukrainian citizens on orders from Moscow to discredit Ukraine and undermine support for Kiev among Western allies.

The suspects were reportedly supposed to film the fires and send the footage to Russia's Federal Security Service. They are now facing life sentences for forgery and treason.

DPA notes that what was reported by the SBU cannot be independently confirmed.

Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, martial law has been declared, with authorities regularly arresting suspected Russian collaborators. Russian special services have also repeatedly reported thwarted attacks by Ukrainian saboteurs on Russian territory.
