Any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon would have serious consequences for Israel, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said in a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Israeli authorities have accused the Iran-linked Lebanese Shiite group “Hezbollah” for a rocket attack on a soccer field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, in which 12 children and youths died. Israel has vowed to give a harsh response, and “Hezbollah” denied having anything to do with the hit.

„Any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon will have serious consequences for Israel,” Pezeshkian said. “We want to improve our relations with France on the basis of mutual trust”, the Iranian president also said in his conversation with Macron.

Paris is trying to prevent a wider escalation of the conflict between Israel and "Hezbollah" and earlier the French head of state spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, notes Reuters. Macron reminded the Israeli leader that France is fully committed to doing “everything to avoid a new escalation in the region, and is sending messages to all parties involved in the conflict”.
