A loud explosion was heard and a cloud of smoke could be seen rising over the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut, a stronghold of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, an eyewitness told Reuters, BTA reports.
The city has been tense for days ahead of the expected Israeli attack – revenge for the strike on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed a dozen Druze teenagers.
Israel and the US accused “Hezbollah” for the attack.
Hezbollah has denied responsibility.
