Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said that "all-out war" with the Iranian-backed Lebanese group "Hezbollah" can be prevented by the immediate implementation of a UN resolution banning armed groups from being near the border with Israel in southern Lebanon, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Katz said he has sent a letter to dozens of his colleagues calling for the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, which was passed at the end of the 2006 war between Israel and "Hezbollah".
The resolution stipulates that there will be no presence of any armed group fighters between the Litani River in Lebanon and the border with Israel. The river is about 30 km from the border.
"Israel is not interested in a full-scale war, but the only way to prevent it is the immediate implementation of Resolution 1701," Katz wrote in the letter.
