Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Moscow with the President-elect of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

Despite Western sanctions against Russia, trade between Russia and Indonesia has doubled, Putin said. The Russian president also said that a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union, which is ready to be signed, gives hope for even greater growth.

Prabovo welcomes the plans of the airline "Aeroflot" for direct flights to the island of Bali, which is a popular tourist destination.

The Indonesian leader also showed interest in cooperation with the Russian nuclear company "Rosatom".

Indonesia's president-elect, who is a former general and defense minister, will take office in October. In Russia, he also met with the Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov and discussed with him issues related to military cooperation.
