Russian media reports that on the morning of August 6, the Ukrainian army invaded Russia's Kursk region, and more specifically the town of Suja near the border. Kiev has not confirmed this information and it is not clear whether the attacks were carried out by Russian partisans fighting on the side of Ukraine.

UNIAN writes that, according to Russian media, there was fierce fighting in the area, and Ramzan Kadyrov's forces, sent there to guard Russian land, fled in panic.

„The praised Akhmat (the Chechen special forces) has retreated to Kursk, the area is under intense shelling”, sources write in the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel.

Russian authorities in that region reported the drone attack and also wrote that Ukrainian military equipment broke into the areas of Kurilovka and Goncharovka settlements, and the regional center of Suja was shelled. Some residents are fleeing their homes because of the hostilities. Home windows and drone airstrikes have been reported.

Recent events in the Kursk region show that it is possible to create a “sanitary“ zone of the territory of the aggressor country. This was said by the former spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Vladyslav Seleznev on the air of “Kyiv24”. He does not rule out Russian forces now bombing their own settlements to repel the attack.

Similar tactics were used by Vladimir Putin's army during the offensive in the Belgorod Region of the Russian Partisan Legion. The Kremlin is indifferent to how many civilian victims there will be even in the Russian Federation.

According to the experts, it is still not clear for what purpose this mission is being carried out in the Kursk region. One thing is certain – regardless of whether the Ukrainian army or partisan units are responsible, the population of Russia must be shown that the war can very easily be transferred to Russian territory.

Russia has sent reinforcements to the southern part of the Kursk region along the border with Ukraine, where 300 Ukrainian soldiers attacked Russian military units, the “Reuters” agency reported yesterday. citing a statement from the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. Kursk Oblast Governor Alexei Smirnov earlier said Russian forces had foiled a Ukrainian attempt to break through the border, but the situation remained “complicated”.
