The Ukrainian offensive in Russia "creates a real dilemma for (Russian President Vladimir) Putin", Joe Biden said today, quoted by France press, speaking for the first time publicly on the subject.

The US president, who is visiting New Orleans, Louisiana, said he has been talking to his team "every four to five hours" for the past six to eight days. on this issue, and assured that the US - the main military supporter of Kiev - is "in constant contact with the Ukrainians".

Asked if he expected Iran to refrain from retaliating against Israel if a ceasefire agreement was reached in the Gaza Strip, the president replied: "That is my expectation,", according to Reuters.

Biden said this to reporters after arriving in New Orleans.

Earlier, citing three senior Iranian officials, Reuters reported that only a ceasefire agreement resulting from possible talks this week would deter Iran from directly retaliating against Israel.
