The Russian ambassador in Washington said today that Ukraine would not attack the "Nord Stream" without the tacit approval of the US and that Russia will identify and punish those behind the attack, Reuters reported.

Newspaper “Wall Street Journal“ reported yesterday that Ukraine's top military official had approved the 2022 attack on the gas pipelines despite a warning by US intelligence to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to blow up the pipelines.

„They seek to shift all responsibility to their Ukrainian stooges," Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said in a statement to Nord Stream. “We will try to find the real perpetrators of the bombing and punish them."

The sabotage of Russian gas pipelines “Nord Stream” in 2022 in the Baltic Sea has been approved at the highest level in Kiev, the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, including initially by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reported France Press. According to the American newspaper, citing Ukrainian military sources in particular, the explosions in the depths of the Baltic Sea were carried out under the supervision of the then commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Valery Zaluzhny, despite the change of heart of Volodymyr Zelensky, who insisted on stopping the project.

These posts come on the heels of revelations that the German judicial investigation into the sabotage has gone on a Ukrainian trail, with an arrest warrant recently issued for a professional Ukrainian diver. The idea for the sabotage arose in May 2022 at a meeting of Ukrainian officers, senior military and business leaders, three months after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the American newspaper wrote. According to the "Wall Street Journal" a total of six people were directly involved in this approximately $300,000 operation, all of which were privately funded.
