Russian historian and political scientist Natalia Narochnitskaya, who is also a former member of the State Duma, called for Kursk Oblast to be wiped off the face of the earth, UNIAN agency reported.

On August 6, the Ukrainian army carried out a surprise invasion of the Russian region and occupied dozens of settlements, taking thousands of Russian soldiers captive.

According to Narochnitskaya, there is only one solution – to destroy everything, including the Russian population and territory. She said she “hopes” Russian troops to bomb the Kursk region.

Such statements reflect the Kremlin's policy not only towards enemy Ukrainian forces, but also towards its own population, which is of no value to Vladimir Putin's regime. Since the start of the unprovoked full-scale war, Vladimir Putin has sent hundreds of thousands of Russians to certain death at the front.

The invasion of the Kursk region caught the Russian army off guard and was a huge humiliation for Moscow. Putin, who hoped to capture Kiev in three days, can no longer defend even his own land. Kiev announced that it has no intention of occupying the Kursk region forever, but only to force Putin to withdraw his army from Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian forces control an area of over 1,250 square kilometers and 92 settlements in Russia's Kursk Oblast. He called on Kiev's allies to allow the use of Western weapons for strikes inside Russia and added that the lack of such permission was the main reason Ukraine could not stop the advance of Moscow's troops on the eastern front.
