The Kremlin has been unable to stop the Ukrainian offensive in Kursk Oblast, and now Ukrainian forces are fighting for the next big Russian village – Korenevo, writes the German newspaper BILD.
Ukrainian forces are already operating 300 meters from the entrance to the village of Korenevo (19 km from the border). Videos on Telegram confirm that fighting has begun for Korenevo, which Ukrainian forces have been approaching for several days.
The loss of this village will be even worse for Vladimir Putin's reputation than the loss of Suja. Unlike Suja, he will not be able to justify the surprise attack and unprepared defense. After two weeks of fighting in the Kursk region, the Russian army here has been put on alert and has transferred thousands of troops. Martynovka was defended by Chechen units, the village was important as a starting point for a potential counter-offensive against Suja, now this danger for the Ukrainian armed forces is rapidly decreasing.
