Kamala Harris's main campaign fundraiser raised four times more money than Donald Trump's campaign in July, the Associated Press reported, citing federal reports.
Democratic vice president Harris' campaign reported to the Federal Election Commission that it raised $204 million last month, while Republican Trump's primary fundraising group reported $48 million.
Harris' figures include money raised in the month before she ran for president. This happened on July 21, when President Joe Biden announced that he would not seek re-election. He backed Harris, who took control of the fundraising group.
Harris also outspent Trump during the month – 81 million dollars, while with Trump the amount is 24 million dollars, according to their reports.
Harris' campaign previously said it raised a total of $310 million in July, while Trump's campaign said he and the GOP raised a combined $138 million.
Although candidates and their parties work together, the amounts raised by the campaign are important because by law campaigns receive large rebates for TV ads, while parties and other affiliated groups must pay in full.
