The Naval Forces (Navy) of Ukraine confirmed that they destroyed a railway ferry loaded with fuel tankers in the Russian port “ Caucasus“, reported Reuters. Weapons were also transported, they added, BTA reported.

„The ferry is one of the most important logistics lines for the Russian army to supply the occupation forces. First of all with fuel, but also with weapons, said Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk to Radio Free Europe.

Local authorities earlier said the ferry was set on fire and damaged in Thursday's attack at the port in Russia's southern Krasnodar region.

The ferry was carrying 30 fuel tankers, said the head of the Temryuk region, where the port is located, Fyodor Babenkov. According to him, the ferry sustained significant damage as a result of the attack,

"Caucasus" is one of the largest Russian ports on the Black Sea. Its services are used by ships for both export and fuel deliveries to Crimea, illegally annexed in 2014.

On this background, the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region continues.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday that the large-scale entry of Ukrainian forces into Russia's Kursk region is part of a systematic effort to end the 30-month war on Ukraine's terms, Reuters reported.

At an international forum of veterans in Kyiv, Zelensky noted that the entry on August 6, as well as the Ukrainian defense in eastern Ukraine, where Russia has concentrated its offensive actions, are part of the path "to end the war on the terms of an independent Ukraine." ;.

"Our defensive operations in Donetsk region, Kharkiv region, in southern Ukraine, our deliverance from the Russian Black Sea Fleet, our operation in Kursk region - these are daily strikes on Russian military facilities. All of this is our systemic way of defending Ukraine, a way to end this war on the terms of an independent Ukraine. I am sure that we will win this way, no matter how difficult it is," Zelensky said, quoted by Ukrinform.

Russian air defense forces today shot down 2 Ukrainian missiles, 2 drones and 3 guided air bombs in the border areas above the Kursk region, reported in "Telegram" the governor of the region Alexei Smirnov, quoted by TASS.
