German Interior Minister Nancy Feser said she was "deeply upset" from the "brutal assassination" in Solingen last night, reported France Press.

According to the latest reports, three people were killed and eight injured in the attack in the town in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The search for the attacker continues, and the motive for his actions has not yet been established.

The attack took place as tens of thousands of people had gathered in Solingen to celebrate the 650th anniversary of the founding of the city.

"The security services are doing everything in their power to arrest the perpetrator and investigate what led to the attack," Fezer wrote this morning on the "X" social network.
