Tunisian President Kais Sayed replaced 19 ministers in the government, including those of defense, foreign affairs and economy, reports Reuters, quoted by News.bg.

Khaled Shili will be the new Minister of Defense and Mohammed Ali Nafti will take over as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Earlier this month, Syed fired Prime Minister Ahmed Khachani, replacing him with Kamel Madhuri, the minister of social affairs.

The ministers of finance, justice and the interior kept their positions after the large-scale reshuffle.

The cabinet reshuffle comes amid a financial crisis and widespread discontent over recurring water and electricity cuts in many parts of the country, as well as shortages of some goods and medicines.

Sayed consolidated power in 2021 after shutting down the elected parliament and running for re-election against two candidates.
