Emergency power cuts were announced for the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, as well as for 11 other regions of the country , partially also in the Donetsk region, Ukrinform reported, referring to a statement by the national energy operator "Ukrenergo", BTA reported.
"The emergency power outage affects the city of Kyiv, as well as Kyiv, Cherkassy, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava and parts of Donetsk region,'' the company's statement said.
The operator is about to announce more power outages. This became necessary after Ukraine was subjected on August 26 to a massive Russian attack on the energy infrastructure.
Earlier today "Ukrenergo" announced a planned blackout between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. for three groups of consumers in the capital Kyiv and another 15 regions in Ukraine.
"Another group of customers had to have their power cut this morning. Between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., three user groups will be affected in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporozhye, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions," it said in the publication.
Yesterday's daily high was 4.8% higher than the previous day.
"We note that Ukraine's energy system is recovering after nine massive Russian attacks. The power deficit in the energy system remains, and emergency and scheduled repairs continue in the energy facilities. Please use electricity sparingly," Ukrenergo said.
No electricity export is planned for August 29, 2024 (today).
