Greek Foreign Minister Meets Indian Counterpart

The meeting took place in New Delhi and focused on trade, shipping and investment

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met on Thursday in New Delhi with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, ANA-MPA news agency reported, quoted by BTA.

The meeting included extensive talks, during which Gerapetritis and Jaishankar discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, shipping and investment.

They mentioned strengthening cooperation during Greece's mandate in the Security Council. According to a publication by the Greek Foreign Ministry in Aix, “the Greek Foreign Minister stressed the geostrategic importance of the “IMEEEC“ project (The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor) and Greece's role as a natural gateway to Europe.“

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Greece and India, Gerapetritis and Jaishankar united on the need to promote people-to-people diplomacy through education, culture and tourism. For his part, Gerapetritis confirmed Greece's intention to open two new consulates in Mumbai and Bangalore.
