US President Donald Trump announced today that his administration will strip Harvard University of its tax-exempt status, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

"We will take away Harvard's tax-exempt status. This is what they deserve!", Trump wrote in a post on his social network "Truth Social", without specifying when the measure will take effect.

This is another attack on the educational institution by the so-called. The Ivy League comes amid a growing crackdown on elite universities by the Trump administration during his second term, Reuters noted.

Since Trump took office in January for his second term as U.S. president, he has frozen federal funding, launched investigations, canceled student visas and made other demands, saying higher education is being tainted by anti-Semitic, anti-American, Marxist and "radical left" ideologies.

Harvard responded by suing the White House for halting U.S. research funding and joining a protest by more than 200 university and college leaders against Trump's higher education policies.
