India reported another ceasefire violation by Pakistan

The Pakistani army opened unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control against the Kupwara, Uri and Akhnur areas

India reported another ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

“On the night of May 3, the Pakistani army opened unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in Kupwara, Uri and Akhnoor districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir“, the Indian army said in a statement, quoted by ANI.

“The Indian army responded promptly and proportionately“, the military said.

India has been on alert for shelling by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control every night for a week following the terrorist attack in the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior officers from the armed forces of India and Pakistan held talks on Tuesday, with India protesting. New Delhi warned Islamabad of “unprovoked ceasefire violations” by the Pakistani army along the Line of Control.

A terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali. India said it had found evidence of the involvement of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group in the attack and announced a decision to halve the staff at its embassy in Islamabad, suspend a bilateral water-sharing agreement and issue visas to Pakistani nationals. New Delhi also declared the military advisers at the Islamic Republic's diplomatic mission persona non grata.
