Portugal's interim government wants to expel about 18,000 foreigners living there without permission, the Associated Press reported.
Presidential Minister António Leitao Amaru said authorities will send about 18,000 notices to people who are in Portugal illegally to leave the country.
Foreigners will start receiving notices next week. In the first wave, about 4,500 people will be affected, who will have 20 days to voluntarily leave Portugal.
