The President of the Maldives Mohamed Muizu gave a nearly 15-hour press conference, breaking the record for the duration of a similar event, previously held by his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, Agence France-Presse reported, citing his office.
The meeting with journalists began at 10 a.m. yesterday (8 a.m. Bulgarian time) and lasted 14 hours and 54 minutes. It was interrupted by short breaks and prayers, the statement noted, BTA specified.
"The press conference lasted until after midnight – "a new world record for a president - with President Muizu continuously answering questions from journalists," the text also says.
About 20 journalists attended the press conference, and were served food, the president's office said.
In October 2019, a Ukrainian agency specializing in records said that President Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with journalists lasted 14 hours, greatly improving the previous seven-hour record held by his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
