At least nine people died and one person is missing after a storm capsized several tourist boats in a river near the city of Jiangxi, in southwestern China's Guizhou province. This was reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua, BTA reports.
The incident occurred in the afternoon yesterday. Of the four capsized boats, two were carrying tourists, and 84 people ended up in the water.
Aid was provided to 70 of them. Four were injured, but their condition is not life-threatening, Xinhua specifies.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing. Nearly 500 emergency services personnel have been mobilized.
