Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for "significantly more pressure" on Moscow after deadly Russian attacks on Kiev overnight, which killed at least two people, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The Russian attack came just before a three-day ceasefire unilaterally agreed by the Kremlin was to take effect tonight at 9 p.m. local time.

"Only significantly more pressure on Russia and tougher sanctions can open the way for diplomacy," Zelensky wrote on social media today.

Yesterday, the Russian army also killed four residents of the Donetsk region and injured 10. The regional governor, Vadym Filashkin, said on Facebook that the dead were residents of Kramatorsk, Poltava, Yablonivka and Sofiivka.

Ukrainian President Zelensky had earlier called on his country's allies to help it develop interceptor drones, Reuters reported. He said the drones were essential for protecting the country from air strikes.

In his midnight address, Zelensky said that a meeting with senior Ukrainian military officials had discussed the use of technology to develop drones capable of shooting down other drones. "This is one of the most advanced technologies of modern warfare. I have instructed the Defense Ministry and the Foreign Ministry to work more actively with partners to finance the production of such interceptors," Zelensky said.
