Long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck two key Russian defense industry sites tonight, Ukrinform reported, citing an SBU source, BTA reports.

"The explosions occurred at "Basalt" - the largest Russian military enterprise that produces weapons and ammunition for the entire Russian army.

Local residents reported at least seven explosions, followed by fires.

Drones also hit the "Splav" plant - the only enterprise in Russia that designs and manufactures multiple launch rocket systems and related ammunition.

A large fire broke out after the explosions and there was thick smoke, the source said.

In addition, a plan was reportedly activated in the Moscow region, according to which airspace was closed and planes were grounded, which led to major transport disruptions. As a result, hundreds of flights were canceled.

Meanwhile, Russia said overnight that it had repelled a massive Ukrainian drone attack, Reuters reported, specifying that it could not independently verify the SBU's claims.
