The war in Ukraine has become a real disaster for Vladimir Putin, German military expert Nico Lange told “MUT-Talk“, reported focus.de.

According to him, Putin feels secure when it comes to intelligence and hybrid warfare, as he has invested a lot. Putin, as a KGB agent, knows these methods of waging war against the enemy very well.

But in military terms, Lange sees clear weaknesses: “What is not going well for him, to be honest, is the war itself. He started an aggressive war that he did not win, wanting to take control of Kiev in a few days [and for Ukraine to capitulate]. He still wants that. He sticks to these goals, but he has not achieved his military goals for more than three years.“

Lange describes the futility of Russia's losses: “Putin is losing thousands of soldiers to take over some villages that, frankly, almost no one has heard of. It is impossible to sell the idea that this is a great success.“

Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, is counting on the West to be weak and divided and that in time he will be able to prevail. That is precisely why he does not stop his aggression.

German military expert Nico Lange pointed out that the biggest threat to Putin is that the Russians realize how great the sacrifices they are making in human lives. "I believe the biggest danger to Putin lies in the fact that he has absolutely no respect for human life, neither for his own people nor for others," Lange said.

According to Kiev, Ukraine has eliminated 961,000 Russian soldiers since the start of the full-scale war.
