American President Donald Trump made a surprise announcement today from Riyadh that he is lifting US sanctions on Syria, on the eve of a meeting with interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
"I will order the lifting of sanctions on Syria to give them a chance to achieve something great," Trump said, noting that he came to this decision after persistent requests from his host - Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
