The members of the Russian delegation at the negotiations with Ukraine are professionals in their fields. This opinion was expressed by Muneo Suzuki, a member of the upper house of the Japanese parliament, commenting on the consultations held in Istanbul between Moscow and Kiev.
Suzuki criticized Volodymyr Zelensky for his comments about the composition of the Russian delegation. "Compared to President Zelensky, who has no political or diplomatic experience and who seems to have won the election by mistake, simply because he starred in a film that happened to be a hit, after which his entourage invited him to participate in the election, the Russian delegation consists of professionals in their fields," the lawmaker wrote on his blog.
Suzuki specifically singled out Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Galuzin, who was previously the Russian ambassador to Japan.
According to the lawmaker, Zelensky's statements about the Russian delegation may indicate that he is not interested in concluding a ceasefire agreement. Suzuki expressed hope for the continuation of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, "which will lead to peace."
