The decision by the Qatari royal family to gift US President Donald Trump a luxury Boeing 747-8 aircraft is completely legal and has been approved by US lawyers, US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff told ABC News.
Witkoff said that Qatar's decision to donate the “flying palace“ is dictated by the historical fact that the United States has done a lot for the countries of the Middle East.
“I don't see how anyone can see this as an attempt by the Qataris to gain some advantage“, he added.
On May 11, ABC News reported, citing its sources, that the Qatari royal family plans to give the American leader a “flying palace“, which could become one of the most expensive gifts the United States has ever received from a foreign country. Politico, citing the press attaché of the Qatari embassy in Washington, Ali al-Ansari, reported that the Qatari Ministry of Defense has not made a final decision on the transfer of the Boeing 747-8 aircraft to US President Donald Trump.
