For Ukraine, there is no doubt that the war waged on its territory by Russia must end at the negotiating table, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

However, there must be clear and realistic proposals at this table, he added, calling for greater international pressure on Moscow through the imposition of sanctions.

The Ukrainian head of state noted that Russia is trying to buy time to continue its war in Ukraine and occupy more of his country's territory. Zelensky said he had spoken to Finnish President Alexander Stubb and would speak with more allies later today.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not really interested in peace in Ukraine and is only trying to buy time in negotiations with the United States, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said earlier today, as quoted by Reuters.

Ahead of a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels, Pistorius said Europe should increase pressure on Russia by imposing more sanctions, especially on Russian energy exports.
