Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has received death threats in an email sent to the Kosovo presidency a few days ago by an anonymous sender, the Koha Ditore newspaper reported today. The email, among other things, called Osmani an "unconstitutional criminal," BTA reported.
The media advisor to the Kosovo president, Bekim Kupina, said that this was not the first threat Osmani had received. According to him, she had been threatened dozens of times so far, including by people who introduced themselves by name and surname, but no action had been taken.
He criticized Kosovo's judicial institutions for their inaction.
"Despite dozens of threats - most of which were for her life - no action had been taken against those who sent them for years." (...) Some of the threats were even made on television, but even then there was a lack of action to hold those who threatened her accountable," Kupina said.
He added that according to the security authorities in Kosovo, this is the only case in the history of Kosovo institutions in which not a single person who made threats has been brought to justice.
