We have repeatedly made it clear that we expect one thing from Russia - an immediate ceasefire without preconditions, said Johann Vaddeful on the sidelines of a meeting with his EU colleagues

Germany still counts on the United States to put more pressure on Russia for an immediate ceasefire, Foreign Minister Johann Vaddeful said today, even though the conversation between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin yesterday did not lead to progress in this regard, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"We have repeatedly made it clear that we expect one thing from Russia - an immediate ceasefire without preconditions", Vaddeful said on the sidelines of a meeting with his EU colleagues in Brussels.

"It is sobering to see that Russia has not taken this step and we will have to react. We also expect our US allies not to tolerate this," he said.

Vadeful added that there was a great deal of willingness in both the EU and the US to consider additional sanctions against Moscow, but he did not elaborate on what these might include.
