Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that there is a barbaric attitude towards Russian culture abroad, TASS news agency reported.
Representatives of foreign countries sometimes treat Russian culture barbarically, but this does them no honor. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at a meeting with Patriarch Kirill on the occasion of his name day.
Putin thanked the head of the Russian Orthodox Church for supporting the Russian language and Russian culture.
„We are seeing not just attacks on Russia, but some kind of barbaric attitude towards our culture even as part of world culture. We haven't seen anything like this in a long time. This does not do credit to those who do it, but in these conditions, supporting Russian culture and the Russian language takes on special importance“, the Russian president said.
Russian Patriarch Kirill thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his leadership in the country and the “unique combination of progress and traditions, which is implemented in modern Russia“.
According to the patriarch, the modern Russian Federation is an example of a unique combination of progress and tradition. “Because precisely as a civilization - fully modern, scientifically and technically equipped and at the same time based on tradition - we are unique, we are an example. And I am sure that many people look at modern Russia as an example of how scientific and technological progress can be combined with tradition“, added the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
